However, it can permanently damage the threads, cause plastic deformation of the ball stud, or even lead to the stud snapping under later driving loads.”
2024-2025 Recommended Torque Specs for Most Vehicles
| Thread Size | Common Vehicle Type | Factory Torque Range |
| M10 | Most sedans & compact SUVs | 38–55 Nm (28–41 ft-lbs) |
| M12 | Mid-size SUVs & light trucks | 65–85 Nm (48–63 ft-lbs) |
| M14 | Heavy-duty trucks & large SUVs | 100–130 Nm (74–96 ft-lbs) |
Correct Installation Tips
· Always torque the nuts with the suspension fully loaded (wheels on the ground or on a drive-on lift). Tightening while the suspension is hanging will twist the joint and cause early noise.
· Use only a hand torque wrench — never an impact wrench, even on the lowest setting.
· Keep the threads clean. Do not apply thread locker unless the vehicle manufacturer specifically calls for it.
· Replace both left and right sway bar links at the same time for even loading.
Stabilizer links (such as the commonly used part Stabilizer Link 8K0411317D) and Stabilizer Bar Assembly are precision components with strict internal tolerances and preset preload.
Strictly following torque specifications during installation can virtually eliminate noise caused by improper assembly, allowing the Stabilizer Link 8K0411317D and the entire stabilizer bar assembly to achieve their designed service life.
